Water Quality Test
Don’t just tolerate your water quality problems – solve them!
How hard is your water?
Getting a water quality test is the first step in helping us determine the best water softening system or soft water tank exchange delivery service for your home or business.
By knowing how many milligrams of dissolved calcium and magnesium are present in your tap water, we can determine what system will do the best job to soften it. For example, if your water has greater than 7 grains per gallon or 120 mg/L, your tap water is considered “hard” and should be treated with a water softener.
| Grains/Gal | mg/L & ppm | Classification |
|---|---|---|
| Less than 1 | Less than 17.1 | Soft |
| 1 – 3.5 | 17.1 – 60 | Slightly Hard |
| 3.5 – 7 | 60 – 120 | Moderately Hard |
| 7 – 10 | 120 – 180 | Hard |
| over 10 | over 180 | Very Hard |
It’s important to note that water hardness does not pose a health hazard. Depending on your water district in San Bernardino County or Riverside County, it’s very likely that the tap water is perfectly safe to drink without additional treatment.
However, having hard water means that over time you may have mineral deposits on dishes, and within appliances and plumbing, which may affect their performance and/or appearance. Additionally, hard water requires more soap than soft water and can have a slightly bitter, metallic taste and smell like rotten eggs if it has too much iron.
